Guardians Vault Australia
The Tachi unlike that of the later katana, was mounted/worn with the cutting-edge facing down and hung from the Sarashi (belt) . Its cutting blade longer and with a much greater Sori curvature than its younger brother (the Katana) as the bushi class generally fought more consistently on horseback pre 1600.
Our GVA Teikoku Tachi is handforged of hard 1095 Carbon steel and is beautifully polished with a custom clay tempered hammon to expose its edge and stunning sori curve.
Suitable for the hands of a professional only, in martial arts demonstrations and for the walls / sword cabinets/racks of collectors.
An intimidating sight, our GVA Teikoku Tachi measures in at 115cm from Tsuba end to blade tip.
Outstanding attention to detail , authentic ray-skin (Black) with Red cotton hybrib ito wrap along an extended 30cm tsuka (handle).
Its 1095 Carbon steel blade features no bo-hi ( lightening groove) with a stunning true clay tempered hammon for edge retention / aesthetics & full-tang construction , our Teikoku Tachi is not just made for show.
The Sayafeatured is that of the dragon and serpent pattern, with a red cotton mounting sageo to match the ito on the tsuka.
The blade is live/sharp and is highly polished using multiple grade stones and truly a striking piece.
An incredible looking Tachi designed by Guardians Vault Australia with imperial style and a functional blade that has its roots well set in history.
