The Yari was a common yet fearsome polearm used throughout Japanese history.
Historically, the Yari was often used by foot soldiers to create space on the battlefield as they have several situational advantages over a katana.
Our GVA Hogosha Yari blade is forged of 1095 High carbon steel , hand sharpened with a dual edged tip and attached to a hardwood staff for impact resistance via two traditional mekugi pegs.
Featuring a custom Kanji engraved saya and blade with single bohi.
Designed exclusively in-house by GVA, the Hogosha Yari is perfect for demonstration and can be forged in either
live or Iaito style ( dull edge) .
